Story Time @ Daya Ashram

June 24, 2023 – Daya Ashram The Serenity4Seniors journey began with a heartfelt visit to Daya Ashram. Two volunteers spent a quiet afternoon reading stories to the elderly, creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, and gentle connection. This visit felt significant—it marked the start of something deeply meaningful. Conversations blossomed as we spoke with the lovely women of the ashram and the caring Sisters. A cherished moment came during the story of The Foolish Lion and the Clever Bunny, when a Sister joined in with joyful acting, filling the room with laughter. Though just two hours, the visit left a lasting impression. It reminded us of the quiet resilience of the elderly and how moments of shared storytelling can open doors to connection, comfort, and understanding.

Soiree @ Daya Ashram

July 2, 2023 – Daya Ashram This visit to Daya Ashram took on a musical tone as my brother joined me for the afternoon. He sang Manzil Se Behtar Lagne Lagi Hai Yeh Raaste, encouraging the elderly to embrace the moment. Their response was beautiful—clapping along while one played the tabla. An elderly lady followed with soulful Odia folk songs, adding charm and nostalgia. A Sister’s heartfelt melody left the room in quiet admiration. Music flowed from one voice to another, connecting everyone in shared joy. It wasn’t just an afternoon of songs, but a space of memory and togetherness. Music became our common language, filling the room with warmth, emotion, and mutual appreciation that words alone couldn’t convey.

Tea Party @ Sahajya Ashram

July 30, 2024 – Sahajya Ashram Our first visit to Sahajya Ashram turned into a quiet yet meaningful tea party. Five of us spent the afternoon indoors with the residents, sharing homemade tea and biscuits we’d brought. The gathering was simple, but filled with warmth. Twelve residents welcomed us with kind smiles and open conversations. One elderly woman even shared pictures from her younger days, proudly telling stories from her past. As we sipped tea and exchanged thoughts, the atmosphere felt both reflective and joyful. What started as a casual gathering turned into a moment of connection and understanding across generations. That afternoon reminded us of the power of small gestures and the comfort of just being present.

Christmas @ Daya Ashram

December 23, 2024 – Daya Ashram Three of us visited Daya Ashram to spread Christmas cheer. We brought a tree, ornaments, and festive spirit, decorating it outdoors under the gentle winter sun. The elderly joined in, adding their own decorations while singing soft Odia folk songs. There was laughter, quiet excitement, and a sense of togetherness in every smile and melody. A plum cake was cut and shared among all, bringing sweetness to the celebration. What made the morning memorable wasn’t just the decorations or the treats, but the feeling of shared joy. We’re grateful to Daya Ashram for allowing us to bring a little holiday warmth into such welcoming hearts.

Christmas @ Sahajya Ashram

December 25, 2024 – Sahajya Ashram We ended our Christmas celebrations with a joyful visit to Sahajya Old Age Home. Six of us brought along a Christmas tree, festive decorations, and a bundle of snacks and sweets. The atmosphere was calm and warm indoors as we set up the tree together with the residents. With gentle smiles, they helped hang ornaments and even wore Christmas hats, adding a cheerful touch. Carols played softly in the background, and slices of cake were passed around as we all shared quiet laughter and conversation. The morning felt unhurried and heartfelt—a reminder that celebration lies in togetherness, not grandeur. Surrounded by kindness and connection, we left with the warmth of shared joy and the memory of a peaceful, festive morning.

Hand Painting @ Sahajya Ashram

April 12, 2025 – Sahajya Ashram A team of four from Serenity4Seniors spent a cheerful afternoon at Sahajya Old Age Home. We organized a fingerprint activity, inviting each resident to leave their handprint on a large white sheet. As they added their colors, stories and laughter filled the room. Some giggled while dipping their hands into paint, others shared memories of childhood art classes. The mood was light, joyful, and filled with casual, heartfelt conversation. The finished canvas—now hanging proudly on the wall—radiates individuality and shared spirit. Though simple in form, the activity became a tapestry of joy and expression, reminding us that every handprint carries a story and that connection can be found in the smallest acts of creativity.

Board Games @ Utkalamani Ashram

April 19, 2025 – Utkalamani Gopabandhu Old Age Home The Serenity4Seniors team, ten of us in total, visited Utkalamani Gopabandhu Old Age Home and spent a heartwarming evening with the residents. The celebration began with a nostalgic musical session, where I was joined by singer Sidhart to perform some of the most beloved hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s. As familiar melodies filled the room, the residents clapped along, their eyes lighting up with fond memories. Soft background music continued to play as we transitioned into lively games of Ludo and playing cards. The room was filled with laughter, friendly teasing, and cheerful banter. I still remember jokingly accusing one elderly lady of cheating—only for her to playfully tease me right back. It was the kind of exchange that makes you forget time altogether.

Tea Party @ Maria Old Age Care

May 14, 2025 – Maria’s Home for the Aged My visit to Maria’s Home was one of those quiet, life-shaping moments. I spent the afternoon with 48 resilient residents—each carrying stories, wisdom, and laughter. As they shared tales of army life, love, loss, and simpler times, I didn’t just hear them—I felt them. Their warmth, paired with cups of tea and unfiltered honesty, left a mark on my heart. It reminded me why we do what we do—not for grand gestures, but for genuine human connection. As I left, one question lingered: why do we even have old age homes? And why do strangers often love our elders better than we do? That day left me with a silent promise: to listen more, care deeper, and never take presence for granted.

Soiree @ Khushiyon Ka Ghar

May 26, 2025 – Khushiyon Ka Ghar At Khushiyon Ka Ghar, we spent an afternoon surrounded by melody and connection. With a guitar in hand, we played familiar songs that brought out smiles and gentle laughter. The residents joined in, clapping and humming along, while we chatted about music, memories, and favorite artists. A simple jam session transformed into a shared space of warmth and joy, where age disappeared and connection took over. That afternoon reminded us of the beauty in small moments—how a tune, a laugh, or a kind word can bridge generations and brighten a day. Music truly became the heart of our interaction.

Plantation Drive @ Khushiyon Ka Ghar

June 7, 2025 – Khushiyon Ka Ghar The plantation drive was a blend of creativity, sustainability, and connection. We reused plastic bottles to create planters, which we cut, painted, and decorated with the elderly. Using finger painting, each resident added a unique touch. Laughter, paint-splattered hands, and stories about gardens and childhood filled the space. As we placed small saplings into these colorful planters, the act of planting became symbolic—a shared promise of care and growth. What started as a green activity became something far more memorable: a vibrant moment of collaboration, color, and companionship that continues to grow long after the day ended.

Gift Giving @ Sahajya Ashram

June 8, 2025 – Sahajya Old Age Home As part of our ongoing Hearts and Hours tour, we returned to Sahajya Old Age Home for a special afternoon filled with warmth and celebration. The visit held extra meaning as we celebrated the birthday of one of our team members, Sweta, bringing cake and cheer to share with everyone. The residents joined in the celebration with wide smiles, clapping along as we sang together. Gifts were exchanged—small tokens of appreciation that carried deep emotional weight. After the celebration, we settled into an evening of stories, laughter, and wisdom as the residents shared reflections from their lives. Their words, spoken with honesty and grace, reminded us once again why we do what we do: to build moments of real connection, one visit at a time.
